Support Orphans and Vulnerable Children

We extend care and education to children who have lost parental support or are at risk, ensuring a stable and nurturing environment.

Living with families with a day structure.

Our Center is carefully built. The mother has her own bedroom. Sometimes, however, she shares it with babies or sick children so as not to disturb the other children.

Four children share a bedroom, there are sufficient sanitary facilities, a kitchen and a covered veranda. The children can play, do sports and work on our farm. There are quiet places for schoolwork. Not a luxury, but a paradise for many.

Read stories of how lives have been transformed by the generosity of our Sponsors and partners around the world.

Out of Ashes Ministry is a safe place where a child can truly experience the love of a family. Our Centre has classrooms, medical clinic, church, playground. At the Centre you find a mother who is raising eight orphaned and vulnerable children. Together, they’re a family, and she’s raising them with love.

Akena  James

"My mum used to sell our cows or our property to pay my school fees, but now she has enough money for my siblings again. I no longer feel guilty for making my mum’s life difficult."

Masembe Hope

"When I finish school, I want to give something back to Ugandan society. This scholarship is a privilege, but also a responsibility. I want to dedicate my work to God and my country."

Julie Nalumaga

"I’m no longer the hopeless person who stayed on the floor for four years. I’m now a student with a vision for my future

Nurturing environment providing care, education, and stability for children without parental support, fostering a brighter and secure future.

Substitute mums

Mums are always busy. For example, they look after the little ones at night or prepare breakfast. They get up early because the children have to brush their teeth, get dressed and have breakfast at 5 o’clock. Most of them have to go to school at 6 o’clock.

Meals are eaten together. The mothers can buy food on a fixed budget on their own farm or at the market.

Hygiene

Hygiene is very important in a large family. Bed linen has to be cleaned regularly, mosquito nets checked, toothbrushes clearly labelled and so on – all of which is actually a matter of course. Thanks to the project with sponsors and partners, our centre also has its own access to clean drinking water.

Raising Mental Health Awareness

Birthdays are festive days. At Our of Ashes, every child "receives" a special celebration date. We celebrate these days as a family and in the Centre.

At least once a month, all our families share dinner. Then cakes are baked, sometimes a fire is lit and the children are allowed to enjoy a sweet drink. We celebrate these days with music, dancing and presents – magical moments.

Out of Ashes guarantees that one hundred per cent of every franc donated reaches our many protégés.

Because we believe in each of them! Thank you for your help!
